    Code if you drop down the message (below the time) it'll tell you more or take you to where you can run a full scan or set to ignore things that get detected as malware. I keep all false positives on an external disk and it usually leaves things alone for me now.

    or disable it manually:

    Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Security and Maintenance

    c0de, go to Control Panel->Security & Maintenance->Change Security & Maintenance settings-> and then uncheck any viable checked boxes there. Did you do that already?

    I did read some comments in Win10 threads that people were having ghost-notifications.

    hmmm I've had notifications from "Patrick" but not "Patrick Swayze" and I've not seen ghost here at LastOS in a long while :p - but yeah ignore the message center, seems like it would only ever be useful if you have a problem you can't fix or diagnose then you look at it - else who cares what it says - it's mostly garbage anyway (like a hotmail or work inbox).

    How did you figure out my last name? :D

    Yesterday I added a tweak for removal of the Action Center icon from tray, which takes away that translucent Action Center menu on the right completely. Though on my previous install I still got standalone notifications in that area (but looking like opaque strips with an X). So either way I think we still need to manually uncheck all the boxes in Security and Maintenance. I had hoped I could find a way to effect this via reg tweaks, but it ended up not working -- nor has it in Win7 or 8 either.

    Damn c0de, would you like to add some more work for me? :D

    Just compare with a compare app (oh yeah, provided those to you too). OK, anything else I can do for you? :devil: :p

    Most of the tweaks will be the same from now on, with just a few added. So you can just install them over the one from yesterday. Plus, all tweaks are described inside the .reg file.

    I know, I've compromised your trust so many times, I don't even know why you still bother with my apps at all :D

    Note to self: in the next edition, block all c0de's favorite websites in the hosts file.

    Don't list every change, just mention any major changes so we can learn to adopt the new ideas - as most are tiny tweaks, it doesn't need listing, they'll just improve the experience. As you showed the screenshots for the new context menu layouts you were already fulfilling that request without being asked, so this post is as redundant and mostly palavers :D

    So, I found another image viewer I like: Honeyview. In some ways I like it better than Faststone. It supports psd and RAW and everything really, and it's dual-arch. I made it into a ppApp. Not really related to the Tweaks but since we were talking about PV I figured why not mention it here.

    I made a sysprep'd image last night of Win10 Enterprise x64. It went well, much better than Win8.x. They now let you use WU again to get your updates in audit mode (used to have to use that powershell script) so that is much easier. Not sure if the cleaning script we used on Win8 and 7 works on Win10, haven't tried that yet.

    Added a few more tweaks:

    - disabled NTFS 8.3 name creation and last access;
    - changed duration of tray notification messages from 5 to 1 seconds (if you haven't unchecked all Security&Maintenance check-boxes);
    - set all folder types to "generic" type (columns list: File Size; File Type; Date Modified) so you don't get different column details according to folder content
    - disabled Program Compatibility Assistant
    - added tweak to disable Search Indexer (but it's rem'd out)

    I thought I had accomplished all tweaking of the Personalization options, but I can't seem to find a reg tweak to disable Settings->Personalization->Start->"Show recently added apps."

    I tried to use Folder Capture in RegShot, but it got to the C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\ and crashed out - so I also can not tell you where it stores the "Show recently added apps" yet, it doesn't store the setting in the registry according to many peoples testing - meaning Microsoft didn't see it to be a good idea to use the registry in their own OS tools because it's so overused - extremely bloated and slow :p

    Yeah, tried combinations of reg keys, and deleting ones that get deleted, etc., but no luck :(

    my guess would be that they store the apps installed in a new database system maybe a sqllite3 or mssql

    perhaps scan the directories for an install.rdf file much like what mozilla does with its plugins

    Strange thing is that all the other settings can be set via registry, except that one. So they did use the registry for even the new (to Win10) settings also. I'm thinking they will change this in the future (hopefully).

    It's be interesting to see if those menus allow for the automatic showing/enabling of the Programs menu, like Classic Shell does in my pre-tweaked version. In my mind, the main importance of the start menu is about giving access to your installed programs (things like directories can be directly accessed through Explorer, so less important to access through the start menu). So why the default start menu of MS and almost all alternatives require you to have to click to get to the programs menu escapes me. Fortunately Classic Shell allows you to just have the Win7 menu style to display Programs directly. With Win10, "Programs" are called "All apps" and even now it still cannot be set to open by default. It has been this way since Win7; Vista had it also but it still offered the classic start menu (XP style) as an alternative so you could hover over "Programs" and it would unfold. So far, the only menu I'm aware that offers this behavior is Classic Shell's.

    I could be wrong, since I haven't checked it in quite a while, but I thought that StartIsBack also offered the same Win7 menu "hover and unfold" type behavior.

    You could be right BP, as I have not tried them all because Classic Shell is so good (and free) :)

    I got the Win10 Enterprise x64 to install unattended now (well, except for one EULA OK), basically by using a mixture of mostly Glenn's methods for Win8.x and a few settings in the autounattend.xml as populated by NTLite. Since I wanted to make an image for Desktop use only (no Store apps), I'm using the built-in Admin account. I got it to apply all the tweaks at FirstLogon, install Classic Shell and SetupS, and activate automatically. It's based on the sysprep'd image so Windows is up-to-date. I also used NTLite on it to remove some drivers and some components, so the total iso is around 2.38gb. This is kind of fun like Last7 again :D
